United States women’s national team rising star Mallory Pugh is headed to the Washington Spirit and the National Women’s Soccer League, the league announced Saturday.
Pugh is a newly allocated U.S. Soccer Federation Player and the Spirit acquired her with the number one spot in the Distribution Ranking Order.
“We are thrilled with the addition of Mallory Pugh to the NWSL and excited to have her join the Washington Spirit,” NWSL Managing Director of Operations Amanda Duffy said in a league press release. “Mallory’s a dynamic talent and one of the top young players in the world. We look forward to her continued development at the club and international levels in the years to come.”
The Colorado-born forward is expected to make her NWSL debut on Saturday, May 20, as the Spirit host FC Kansas City (7 pm ET, go90).
