Wearing her white karate gi and slinging more wisdom than your average 50-year-old, little Daisy Edmonds just crushed a giant British superstore in a video that is quickly going viral. With her perfect accent and her perfect understanding of signs and signifiers, Edmonds lit up Tesco for selling “girls” shirts that say nothing more engaging than “Hey!” and “boys” shirts that inspire discovery and adventure.
“It’s unfair because everyone just thinks girls should be pretty and boys should just be adventurous,” she says pointing at the shirts. “I think that’s wrong because why should girls’ and boys’ clothes even be separate… we’re just as good as each other.” Preach.
You’ve really got to see the rest below:
“What part of ‘Hey!’ is inspiring?” No part, Daisy, no part. According to her mother, Edmonds has been rocking boys’ clothes in order to get that fix of inspiration she’s looking for.
The video has not only provoked a response from women and parents who are demanding a little more forethought from the superstore, but Tesco’s itself has had to enter the fray. “We stock a wide variety of clothes suitable for girls and boys and listen to the views of our customers when reviewing our range.” Read a press release from the company. “We’d like to thank Daisy for her feedback and we can assure her that new styles will be arriving in stores shortly.” Good work, Daisy!
