We already know The Girl Scouts are great. From giving girls the skills they need to be leaders, to stealing the show at the Oscars, to telling President Obama how useful brainstorming is to frankly being the only person that you want ringing your door bell and selling you something (how else would you get your Thin Mints fix?) And now they are making even more of our cookie dreams come true with the introduction of two new Girl Scout S’mores™ cookies. The two new cookies are a crispy graham cookie double dipped in a crème icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating and a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with a chocolate and marshmallowy filling. Umm you had me at S’mores cookie.
And it turns out, in addition to these delicious new cookies we owe a lot more to the Girl Scouts. Basically they invented S’Mores. They were the first ones to making eating S’Mores at a campfire in the 1920s a regular occurence. And really, what is a campfire without S’Mores? Then you are just a bunch of people staring at a fire and singing logs. S’Mores are what separated us from the cavemen. In fact, the organization was one of the first to publish the iconic recipe under the name “Some More.”
Plus, you will be stuffing your face for a good purpose as when you purchase a box of Girl Scout S’mores or any other variety of Girl Scout Cookies, it will help power Girl Scout programming locally for nearly 2 million girls.
